If there’s one thing in my wardrobe that I wear the most, it’s my Gucci belt. I’m often asked questions about the size (with regards to fit and width), so I thought I’d share a complete guide on buying one. My Gucci belt has become a classic wardrobe accessory that instantly elevates even the most basic outfits and its versatility makes it a great investment. Although the hype surrounding the Gucci belt has decreased since its launch, do not underestimate the timelessness of this belt. Similar to other designer belts made by Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, the Gucci belt is a wardrobe staple that will stand the test of time. I have the belt in three different colors (black, white and pink), but I wear black most often. Today I’m sharing everything you need to know when buying a Gucci belt.
Find Your Size In The Gucci Belt
When it comes to choosing the right size in the Gucci belt, you really need to consider how you will wear it the most. Are you planning to wear it to cinch dresses at the waist? Are you planning to wear it with high-waisted pants? Do you usually wear low-waisted pants and plan to wrap them around your hips? Or do you want to wear it three ways (if so, go for the larger recommended size and get extra belt holes added after).
Gucci offers a size guide on their website (shown below) or you can click on the “Size Guide” next to the color picker here. I went with the tall size guide in the right column. You can also opt for a larger size and have it resized for free at a Gucci boutique. I bought my white Gucci belt in size 75 and a salesman from Nordstrom’s Gucci store added a few extra belt holes for me. This process took only about fifteen minutes. I actually bought my belt from the Gucci website, but any Gucci store will size it for you as long as it’s genuine!
Choosing the Right Width
The Gucci belt is available in three widths: 0.75, “1” and 1.5.”Technically, the 1″ is the men’s version, but Gucci also lists under women’s belts. When it comes to choosing the width that suits you best, it’s all based on your preferences. Personally, I prefer the widest belt that is 1.5″ wide. The wider belt looks better with denim because it has the same width as the belt loops of most pants. The smaller belt of 0.8″ width is more delicate and looks more beautiful with dresses and office clothes.
Medium version-1″ wide
The 1″ medium width belt is technically a men’s belt. It is available in smooth leather and canvas. The buckle is available in palladium, brass and shiny brass finishes.
Narrow version-0.8″ wide
The 0.8″ narrow width belt is the most feminine of the widths. It is available in smooth and textured leather, crocodile and canvas. The buckle is available in palladium, brass and shiny brass. In terms of colors, it comes in black, dusty pink, white, brown, beige, red, yellow, blue and pastel pink.
Where To Buy A Gucci Belt
The best place to buy a Gucci belt is on the Gucci website, as they tend to offer the largest selection. When I bought my belts, the sizing options were limited, so I ended up buying my first Gucci belt from Net-A-Porter, my second from Nordstrom, and my last belt from the Gucci website. All three retailers offered free shipping and returns and provided a Gucci dust bag so you really get the same experience at any authorized Gucci seller. Bloomingdale’s is the only website with the new color beige wide width in stock right now.
What Color To Buy
If I could only buy one, I would always buy the black one because it goes with everything. The white Gucci belt is my second choice because I use it a lot too. Brown and pink colors are ideal if you have a more casual or feminine wardrobe. I love this tan color that just came out for 2020 too.
